Dear Comité du tourisme de La Réunion,
I was just wondering whether or not your going to include your practice of using dogs as live shark bait on the general information page of your website? Your practices digust me - to think that you will use an innocent, loyal, loving affectionate animal to catch a shark is unbelieveable.
What sort of people are you?
I have seen pictures of dogs being "prepared" with fish hooks going through their nose - these are undescribable cruelties, unworthy of calling oneself a human being! Please stop these barbarities in your country immediately, otherwise animal welfare organisations worldwide will call for a boyCott of your island.

Přiložená fotografie pochází pravděpodobně ze serveru Foundation Brigitte Bardot a zobrazuje psa, který v noci utekl a následující ráno se vrátil ke své paní v tomto zuboženém stavu. Předpokládá se, že měl sloužit jako živá návnada při lovu žraloků.
Nadace 30 Millions d'Amis, je iniciátorem petice, ve které se požaduje, aby francouská vláda zakázala na ostrově La Réunion používání živých psů jako návnadu při lovu žraloků. Na stránkách nadace najdete také video snímek s poraněným psem.
Naproti tomu uvedený řetězový e-mail vyzývá ke spamování na uvedené adresy s upozorněním, že pokud nepřestanou tímto způsobem týrat zvířata, budou se snažit ostrov bojkotovat.
